A week ago I decided to buy some toys for the kids, and I stumbled
upon a very good post, about how to make kids toys & that was
totally DIY. Which inspired this post to develop something based on
those lines of thought? Toys which are made from the basic household
items like pop bottles and baby wipe container. I would give credit to
Leslie for the wonderful post about DIY Infant toys.

• Pop Bottle Shakers: Use a small soda or water bottle (Around 500 to 750 Ml size ), fill it with some pebbles to make it some noise and that won’t break the bottle. Once its filled with colored paste noodles, sparkles and sequins and other one fill with small wooden letters (Found at the dollar store), some sparkles and sequins of different kind of shapes. Once you have found the way to fit the opening of the bottle you can get as creative as much you want.
Sensory Containers: Made utilizing wipe container, clean and wash the containers and fill them with things the baby can pull out of the opening and vary in texture. We have got full of fabric swatches. We have different textures on hand that ranges from denim to crinoline. Here I took a little step further and stitched the number and letters on the fabrics. You can even fill again with the small toys. Baby wipe containers always have wide opening making it safer for the kids, but in any case you have to make sure, it has no sharp edges and opening.
Taggies- Picture which is on the top of the post, carries a name which I gave as I don’t know if there is any term specified for these kind of baby toys. But it is basically made up of basic fabric square with ribbon loops stitched onto it. Kids love ribbons. So do it tagging books, stuffed animals, as well rolled ribbon loops would do all the trick required to make a toy fancy.
There are many options out there for making your own toys for kids of all ages, more proof that kids don’t have to be as expensive as some will have you believe. You don’t necessarily need fancy store-bought toys, anything that encourages playing and exploration means you’ve succeeded in the making of your own ‘toys’. Happy crafting!
