We just get toys, when you go out, when we feeling good, or
feeling guilty, nothing to, buy mobile, window shopping, some retail therapies’.
And we try to imply same thing on the kids. We just keep them shoving them with
new stuffs. But I can’t say you should stop doing any of those things, but
before that you need to understand that your kid is not playing with dangerous
toys. It only takes few seconds to recent recall and prohibitions by the
issuing authority. Do share this article and spread the word.
Here's what you need:
1.
Pay Attention to Age
Recommendations
Toy manufactures as usual know what they putting in to making of
the products. Read carefully, if anywhere they say its “Not safe for babies” it
is certainly not for kids. Maybe you find your kid a genius and three year old
is ready for checkers or chess, avoid any toys with small parts which could be
dissembled and swallowed by the kids. Many injuries and deaths
from toy asphyxiation happen to kids as old as 10 or 11. Choking isn't restricted to babies and toddlers!
2.
Try To Break Your Child's
Toy
Push and pull teddy bears yes, if you feel they are loose, than
there is danger your child could probably pop it out. And it won’t take time for the kids to put
them in their mouth. So don’t be afraid to test your Childs birthday presents,
grandparents don’t want their junior to be injured by their gifts.
3.
Sort Through Toys And
Know What's There
Keep a box with lit which could be locked. Make ti black hole
for the tiny or lose parts of toys, accessories or choking hazards. Its
important for parents to pay attention and periodically toss the broken toys,
and random pieces into the trash.
4.
Know Your Child
Age specified on the toy boxes, do not really represent the
actual things with the kids, if your three year kids still popping up, weird
things in his mouth, he is not ready for the three year old toys. You are
better judge for the toys your kids.
5.
Buy Only High Quality
Toys
Buy high quality toys, I would rather suggest one costly toy
instead ten cheap toys. Many of the dangerous toys have been recalled recently
from the one dollar stores. Do some internet search for the products used, what
FDA has to say about the products, ingredients, manufacturing process,
packaging, import and sell that toy for just a few rupees. To save money and
make it cheaper most of the marketers outsource it to some cheaper places and
those places cut corners to make some money even from themselves.
6.
Report Every Incident to
the CPSC
Probably in every country there is Consumer product safety
commission which looks into these matters, and cracks down companies and
manufactures of dangerous toys and equipments. Parents reporting could help
them curb the potential problems and often result in nationwide recalls and
possibly could save a lot of kids from possible dangers of cheap things.
7.
Read About Toy Recalls
Incase you don’t know or there is lack of any such authority
like CPSC , you could signup with them. You will get email for every recall and
alert. You could also search on the internet for lot of information about the
banned or prohibited products. Do share them with other parents.
